Welcome

Welcome to fivecentnickel.com, a new weblog about personal finance from the perspective of a thirty-something family man. If you’re curious where the name comes from, it was taken from the following quote from the Depression-era journalist Franklin P. Adams:

“There are plenty of good five-cent cigars in the country. The trouble is they cost a quarter. What this country needs is a good five-cent nickel.”

Besides, have you ever tried find a concise, descriptive domain name that hasn’t already been snapped up? It’s pretty bleak if you’re determined to get one in the .com top-level domain.

See ya ’round!
