Top 15 Commenters
Just a quick note to let y’all know that I’ve created an automagically updating list of the top 15 commenters in the right side bar. Right now Jose Anes has the lead, but FMF is a close second and jim isn’t far behind. Note that getting your name on the leader board gives you a link back to your site (or another link back to your site if you’re already in my links section). So there you have it. Go forth and comment.
Note: The rankings are based on the name that you use when you make a comment so, if you’re interested in getting/staying on the leader board, then you should be consistent from comment to comment.

Man, if I ran something like this without excluding the moderation queue my top commenter would be Free Viagra Now!
Please unmoderate this when you get a chance
Comment by Mike Hillyer — Jun 16th 2005 @ 12:45 amYeah, that dude sure likes to talk alot, him and “Natural Male Enhancement” have a problem keeping quiet.
Comment by jim — Jun 16th 2005 @ 7:10 amMT-Blacklist (plus CAPTCHA) has silenced ALL spam on Conumerism Commentary. It is most excellent for those who use Movable Type.
Comment by Flexo — Jun 16th 2005 @ 8:33 amSo far with Wordpress I have not needed to expand on the built in spam protection, but I’m sure that as volume increases it will become necessary.
Comment by Mike Hillyer — Jun 16th 2005 @ 8:47 amI’m using SpamKarma, but I’ve turned it down to a pretty low level. It trashed one or two legit comments early on, so I backed off on the stringency. I actually think that Flexo’s system of requiring a Captcha for every comment is the simplest approach with the least potential for problems, but I’m not sure that something similar exists for WordPress. SpamKarma only kicks it to a Captcha if it thinks that the comment is slightly spammy. If it’s more sure of the spamminess it trashes the comment straightaway (but leaves it in the database). But it’s sometimes overprotective, and you have to use Spam Nuker to manually recover false positives.
So does this post get me into the top 15?
Comment by BlogDog — Jun 16th 2005 @ 7:26 pmThis modified Gila theme looks good. It has one flaw though. If the main content is not long enough, the color at the bottom of the page messed up.
Comment by The Real Returns — Jun 17th 2005 @ 10:57 pmHmmm… I’m not sure what you’re talking about when you say that the color at the bottom is messed up on short entries. I’ve checked it out on multiple browsers (but Mac only) and I don’t see a problem. What platform/browser are you using, and what exactly does the problem look like? Thanks.
Go to the bottom of this page on your site.
Scroll to the bottom. You will see what I am talking about. I think I knew a hack to fix this problem. I don’t remember it anymore. If I ever find some time to find out the fix, I will send you a note. By the way, I am using IE 6.0 on the Windows XP Home.
