$4.60 Worth of Laziness
A bunch of overdue library books just cost me $4.60 in fines. Fortunately it’s only a dime per book per day, or it could’ve really hurt. While it’s cheaper than buying all those books, and it ultimately supports a worthy cause, I still find it a bit irksome. Maybe I need to create a new category in Quicken. Oh well, at least I’m paid up so I don’t have to worry about those late fees finding their way onto my credit report.

This is so funny, I do the same thing ALL OF THE TIME. I went to rent 2 movies the other day for my little one, and paid 22 dollars. Why? Because we had 16 dollars in late fees. Stupid Tax, I guess. Love the site,

I knew it was due in the back of my mind.. but nope. This especially hurts if you have quite a few books out at the same time.
The stupid part is, I can renewal my books (as long as they’re not on hold) online! can it get any easier!?

Sure helps when things get hectic or when I just forget. I usually leave a note attached to the computer when I do think about it close to the time things are due.
Also it is possible your library has a remote drop box. Ours has one in a couple of places around town and at grocery store where I often shops. That REALLY helps a lot.
Yes, we can renew books online. As far as I’m aware, I can do this an unlimited number of times as long as nobody has placed a hold on the title. However, overdue books cannot be renewed online… Once the due date has passed, they have to go back to the library. You can still renew them, but only at the desk.
Anyway, we have a dry erase board in the kitchen upon which I’ve started writing messages about library due dates. Hopefully that will be enough to get me to login and renew them before they’re overdue.
Not terrible.
But it is a reminder that promptiness pays… Or at least avoids debt
