What great timing to read this piece! I just had almost the same problem. Crazy month, just didn’t realize that the 12th of the month was upon me already. When I sat down to pay bills Saturday morning, my online bill pay wouldn’t let me pay until the 13th and enrolling in the Click to Pay didn’t help due to the waiting period. Thanks to your article, I called Citibank today and told them that the payment would be there on the 13th and she added 5 days to the due date. Thank you so much!

I just had the same thing happen last week. I had a Citi card for over 10 years before they sold the entire Sony portfolio to BankOne (now Chase) a couple of years ago.

So I hadn’t used CTP for a while. I went to use it last week for my first Citi Dividend payment which was over $1000 and encountered this new…um…”tactic”

I found it annoying, but I was paying early enough that I just chose to send the remaining amount via check.

CC will make money any way they can and prey on you not paying attention. You can use them to your advantage, but you need to keep on top of them.

Sounds like the CC companies are trying to make money anyway they can! Coming up with little rules to try and have people carry a balance.

Good idea. I had the same thing happen to me (a bill got lost under a stack of papers and I found it two days before it was due). But I had American Express and I paid for it from my bank account in about 10 minutes.
