More Cell Phone Price Checking
As a followup to my previous post about checking prices on Amazon.com using your cell phone… A reader named ‘GP’ pointed out that Google offers a similar service via SMS (i.e., text messaging). Simply hammer out a message containing the name of a product and put ‘price’ or ‘prices’ at the beginning or end of the query. Then simply send it to ‘GOOGL’ (46645) and you’ll get current prices from Froogle in return. You can either search for specific products (e.g., Nikon D70) or general categories (e.g., digital camera). Alternatively, you can search for a specific book using the ISBN or a particular product using the UPC code. There are a bunch of other uses aside from price checking, including business and residential phone listings, driving directions, movie showtimes, weather, stock quotes, definitions, and more. Get more details here.
