Online Bank Contact and Routing Information

Written by nickel - 13 Comments

I often find myself digging around for custmer service contact information, ABA routing numbers, etc. for the various online savings banks, so I thought that I would try to consolidate that information here, in a single post. For starters, I’ve pulled together the information for Emigrant Direct, ING Direct ($25 account opening bonus) and HSBC Direct. If you have similar information for other banks, please let me know and I’ll put it up.

Update: Added NetBank and VirtualBank — thanks eric!

  2. Here is a way to do a reverse lookup of a routing number. That is, check which bank is assigned a routing number:

  3. I just linked my HSBC to Emigrant. I wasnt fortunate enough to link my ING account to these before they stopped getting along together. I just opened up a NetBank interest checking account. You can log into your NetBank account & also at the same time view any other accounts at the same time (ie: ING, Emigrant, HSBC, financial institutions, etc.) Very handy.

  4. How do you perform a “reverse” lookup of a routing number? I have the number, just need to know which bank it is?

  5. Jeff: Go here to find out how to do a reverse lookup, or see comment #4, above.

  6. Jeff: The company that has the reverse bank routing number search is Lyons Commercial Data. I am a paid subsriber to their service. The subscriber version provides wild-card search capabilities (for instances where only a partial routing number is known), search by name, address, and even phone number. The database is updated daily and includes department phone numbers which I use everyday. Most of their customers are banks and credit unions, but they just started offering a free version (the reverse routing number lookup).

  9. Anyone used/heard of amboydirect? Looks like they have a savings account paying 5.25%…enough higher than the others I know to make me consider switching. They also appear to have a different savings account(?) that has a $50 bonus for opening.

Just wanted to see if anyone had experience with them. Thanks.
