Internet Access Poll Results
While I realize that sites such as mine attract a highly non-random sample of web surfers, I was still a bit surprised by the fact that over 90% of all respondents have a broadband connection. More specifically, 55% reported having a cable connection, followed by 35% with DSL, and a handful of people with satellite internet or broadband wireless. With respect to dialup access, just 5% of respondents reported using a 56k modem. Click here to see the full results (or to participate if you haven’t had a chance to do so yet).

Seems like a switch is being made to broadband from the old frustrating dial-up. For me DSL has been a blessing. I quickly forgot the struggles of dialing up every time I wanted to access the internet. And now with wireless DSL I am floating in the cyber clouds.
Comment by Andrew — May 15th 2006 @ 3:37 pmI wonder if these results might be slanted because so many people who DON’T have high speed access (rather, other than dial-up), aren’t viewing websites such as this that would take a long time to load. In my case, were I still on dial-up, rather than satellite, it’s highly likely that this page would never load before my server timed out.
Don’t get too excited yet about these results!
Comment by Terri — Oct 12th 2009 @ 8:34 amTerri: This page is almost entirely text. If this won’t load over dialup, then you’d be hard-pressed to fine a site that would.
