Both the addition and house have walls that face every direction. We had some paint left so one wall of the addition was finished with SW SuperPaint. Because of store location and price the other walls were matched to the SW and painted with American Tradition Duramax from Lowes (which I think is now Valspar0. In every direction, the SW has held color better, retained the satin finish better, adhered better and looks far better after 6 years and 4 years than the Duramax has in 4 years. Now, in early fall of 2010 I'm headed to the Sherwin Williams store to get SuperPaint to apply to the rest of the walls. The Superpaint applies harder because it is a little thicker than the other but I am not interested in painting every 4 years. I do have to say I like the one step behr paint that's out now..primer included. it works well over old paint. but if you have a ton of repair..new drywall...old wood or new wood..a good primer needs to be applied first...this is what makes your final paint a dud or a pro looking job. I have used store brands without any problems in homes and rentals...i spend the time and money on the primer and other repairs I need first...my paint jobs last and look great. Have fun with your house! I'm sickened now to even see the Sherwin Williams delivery trucks buzz around Louisville and Southern Indiana. Even the guys that stumble out of these trucks look like old fossils with hearing aids and colostomy bags. I thought only MAC tools knew how to conduct business like this? Guess I was wrong! Anyway... I went back to using Dupont, PPG and Valspar on most of my paint projects. It's worth the extra $$$ buying user-friendly products from more knowledgeable folks. Secondly, you say, Walmart? Well Walmart paint is all the return paints like Benji-Moore. The color's are stripped out and then used again to make your custom color. For durability and price you can't beat it. I have the same paint in my primary home and it looks beautiful. With all due respect to the professional painters out there, side-by-side they can't tell the difference between Benjamin-Moore and Walmart. The application is really what the professional paitner is hired for. Straight-lines, no holidays, even application is what is going to make your home look the best.
