Buying Life Insurance (Again), Update #3
My wife and I just heard (via e-mail) from Intelliquote that our new term life insurance policy applications have been approved by ING Reliastar Life Insurance Company. We’re supposed to receive the new policies within 1-2 weeks, at which point we’ll be free to cancel our old term life policies with Lincoln National Life. Thus far, the process has taken just a shade under six weeks, which is almost exactly how long it took last year. I was actually expecting it to take a bit longer this time around, as we asked for substantially more coverage, and were told that the underwriting process would be a bit more involved. Indeed, the medical exam was more comprehensive, requiring an EKG in addition to routine blood and urine tests as well as height, weight, and blood pressure readings. But in the end, the entire process took about the same amount of time.
