Eight Random Things About Me
I don’t usually participate in such things, but I was recently “tagged” by Mike over at CleverDude to write up eight random things about me. In this case, I figured that I should probably play along. After all, I recently sent him a box of bricks instead of an iPod.. So here goes…
(1) My wife and I have four boys.
(2) I pretty much only wear Nike tennis shoes…
(3) …and drive Honda cars.
(4) I don’t own a suit, and my only sport coat (the requisite blue blazer) dates back to high school (I think – maybe college). And I can’t even remember the last time I wore it.
(5) I currently have 2095 messages sitting in my inbox. And that’s after deleting a bunch the other day! But don’t worry… Only 89 of them are unread. This isn’t actually a new problem for me, but… Sheesh. I really need to clean this up. This is the worst that it’s ever been.
(6) I recently got an Airport Express and can now stream iTunes wirelessly to our stereo using AirTunes. Very cool.
(7) I’ve been to Disney World nine times (that’s one more than when I wrote “Marriage by the Numbers“).
(8) I’m not very good at making lists, so I’m just going to fill in the eighth slot with this.
As for tagging eight more people, I’m not going to do that. If you’d like to put your own list together, however, consider yourself tagged. Either post it at your own site or, if you don’t have one, feel free to slap it up in the comments.

Hence why I put you #1 on my tag list
Thanks for participating. I won’t be doing these things too often (people, including me, hate chain letters).

Heh, I knew there was something about you…we are also big WDW fans!
Been there….too many times to count.
Would you like a gmail invitation? I love gmail because I can archive everything I don’t need now and can find it again with an easy keyword search. Keeps 2095 emails out of my inbox! Lemme know and I can send you an invite.

A friend of mine makes and sells his own airport cards on eBay. Much cheaper than buying the real thing, and work just as well.

Karen: Thanks, but I already have one. I was actually referring to my work e-mail. For my personal stuff I use gmail and don’t bother archiving things because the search is so powerful and fast. If I need to find something, I just run a quick search.
As for my work e-mail, I actually do have an archiving system, but I just haven’t been keeping up with it. There was a time when I would go through every Friday (at worst) and either deal with, delete, or archive everything in my inbox. I need to get back to that.

Blaine: Sounds like an interesting sideline. However, the Airport Express is a mini basestation that has print server functionality, AirTunes, and can also be used to extend an existing network, and not an airport card. I actually use all of the functions. Our network didn’t used to reach every corner of the house, but now it does since the Express picks up and re-broadcasts the signal. As I mentioned above, we also use it for streaming iTunes to our stereo. Finally, we have a big built-in entertainment center with a giant (and formerly empty) cabinet underneath the TV. That’s where I put the Express (mainly so it would be near the stereo), and I soon realized that there’s room for our laser printer down there, too. Previously it had been hidden away upstairs, but now we have ready access to stuff that we print without running upstairs.
All in all, this is a great little gadget for $99.

Nickel, you need some strategies from Inbox zero, desperately:

I only use Itunes for podcasts and those I burn to a CD to listen to in the car. For music I use yahoo music have to put up with the odd commercial (much less than commercial Radio) but it’s free and I’ve discovered loads of new bands.

dude, no offense, but your life seems really pathetic. i only ran across this site when i was looking for credit cards, but the fact that you go this far and spend that much time on searching for small deals is pathetic. you should’ve just studied harder in college or high school and gotten a better job – maybe one that at least offsets the cost of purchasing a freakin suit. geez.
July 9th, 2007 at 3:41 pm
Credit Trader: The only reason that I don’t own a suit is that I’m in the fortunate position of not having to. I have an extremely well-paying (and stable) job in which I answer to almost nobody. As a result, I am free to dress as I wish. Maybe *you* should’ve studied harder in school, or chosen a better line of work. And who’s the one that spend all kinds of time searching for small deals? I’m not the one that arrived here from a search engine looking for credit card deals. Dude, no offense, but you seem like a total jackass.

Disney World 9 times? I can’t wait to make it there once! It is on my list of things to do so it will happen one day. Any tips or suggestions to make the visit enjoyable? You’re probably an expert by now.

Steven: My wife is the Disney expert, I’m just along for the ride.
