		<description>I think the rule of thumb is to close the accounts after 6 months IF you don&#039;t want them. Closing them before will cause a negative effect.

It affects the credit rating a lot. I used to get the credit card freebies a lot and then purchased my credit score to find that it affected my score significantly.
