Amex 25k Bonus Point Offer Extended

Written by nickel - 7 Comments

Just a quick note to let you know that the AmEx 25,000 bonus point offer has been extended through October 15th. This offer is good for up to $250 in store gift cards, a $125 statement credit, or a free plane ticket.

While it’s possible that they’ll extend it again (they’ve done so once already) there are no guarantees that this offer will be valid beyond next week. Thus, if you’ve been sitting on the fence about this once, it’s time to apply.

And remember, you don’t have to have a business to take advantage of this business credit card. Simply use your name as the business name and your SSN in place of the Federal Tax ID Number.

Also, while there is an annual fee, it’s waived for the first year, so you can simply sign up, grab the reward, and then cancel sometime in the next 12 months before you incur the fee.

  1. What are the potential negative ramifications for my excellent credit score if I continually sign up for and cancel a credit card solely to take their sign up bonus? I’ve used a BOA Alaska Airlines card for many years (~5) and am paying off a balance at a low promotional rate with Chase. I’ve had the card for ~3 years.

Credit Card Bonus Chasing and Your Credit Score

The bottom line is that this sort of thing has a relatively small and short-lived effect on your credit score.

  3. Nickel, I don’t see anything on that landing page that references the bonuses. Have you seen something there before?

  4. Nevermind. I see the bonus info referenced on the next page after hitting the ‘Apply Now’ button.

  5. how soon after can you cancel the card? there’s no penalties?

  6. No penalties. I wouldn’t cancel before the reward shows up and you use it (6-8 weeks). Other than that, cancel as quickly as you want.

  7. Have to say thanks. Been on site reading for last few months for general advice. Never thought I’d make a deal too like this. Have good credit ( 800+ ) so one inquiry should be fine. Thanks again. Easy as clicking your click here button on this last day of the offer.
