Weekend Roundup – Concept2 Edition
Not quite a month ago, I decided to buy a Concept2 rowing machine. We’ll have had it in the house three weeks as of tomorrow, and I absolutely love it. It’s a very efficient machine in that I can get a full body workout in about 30 minutes, and it’s actually kind of fun (to me).
One of the nice things about Concept2 is that they have a fantastic online community, complete with discussion forums, an online logbook (you can upload your workout data automatically), worldwide rankings, and virtual teams with a variety of different goals. All in all, the community aspects of their online presence are very motivating.
Anyway, with that said, here are some articles that caught my eye over the past week…

Comment by Pinyo — Apr 6th 2008 @ 1:02 pmYeah. Nice. As with other workout devices (BowFlex, Nordic Track, Johnny G’s but to name a few), staying motivated is the key (so you don’t wind up with another expensive dust catcher/door stop/clothes hanger. Anyone else ever notice that most of the people in exercise classes featuring the latest hot exercise device are under a certain age? I have. I see exceptions being stretch/dance/yoga/swimming (ok, I admit we have two over-50 fellows in our bicycling club of 25 or so people) of which the age range is equitable and no expensive piece of equipment or marketing is required. Check back in a year and let us know how you’re doing on that rowing machine.
Comment by Ria Rhodes — Apr 6th 2008 @ 6:13 pmNickel, Congrats on joining the great wide world of rowing! Next thing you know, you’ll be at the Crash-B’s (the World Indoor Rowing Championships), racing along with the best!
Comment by CheeseEverywhere — Apr 7th 2008 @ 7:45 amThanks for information about the rowing machine. I’ve been wanting to purchase one as well.
What is the total length and width of the machine and which model did you get (the D or the E)?
Just want to see if I can fit it somewhere. Also does it fold for storage?
