Weekly Roundup: Geocaching Edition
This past weekend, my kids and I went geocaching for the first time in a long time. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, geocaching is sort of like a high-tech, GPS-based treasure hunt. I like it because it gets us out of the house, and we also often stumble onto cool local places that we didn’t even know existed.
We went out late in the day on Sunday and found four of six caches that we looked for. I’m sure we’ll eventually find the other two, but there’s only so much searching you can do with multiple kids in tow.

Nickel– sounds like fun. ANYTHING that gets the kids outside and out from in front of the TV or computer games is a good thing!

We go letterboxing, which is similar. Started about six years ago because it was a very inexpensive way to get out and do something for the whole family. For the cost of an ink pad, a stamp and a notebook (all bought from the dollar bin at the craft store) we had the makings of a fun afternoon out. Just get our clues from letterboxing.org & off we would go. We haven’t gone out in quite some time either. Have to round up the teens & DH and get outdoors this weekend. It’s supposed to be in the low 80s (finally, some warmer weather).

I used to do some geocaching, and it is a lot of fun because you can discover some pretty cool places that you never knew existed.
For example one place i went to find a cache at was a natural spring that was hidden in a neighborhood a mile or so from my house. Beautiful secluded area with a bubbling spring. Awesome!
