In previous weeks, we’ve reviewed specific card brands including PenFed credit cards, Chase credit cards and Citibank credit cards. Chase Sapphire
Chase Sapphire is a terrific rewards card with bonus perks and no annual fee. Cardholders receive 1 point for every dollar spent on normal items. 2x points are available on airfare purchased through Chase’s Travel Booking Tool. 10 bonus points per dollar are available when you shop online at Chase’s Ultimate Rewards Mall. Plus you receive 10,000 free bonus points just for making your first purchase on the card. There are no blackout dates or travel restrictions when redeeming rewards with this card. Bonus perks include purchase protection and zero liability fraud protection. Additionally, Chase Sapphire features Chase Blueprint, a special Chase program that lets you control your payment process to make repayment of your debt easy for you.
Discover More $75 Cash Back
Discover More $75 Cash Back is a cash back rewards credit card with no annual fee. You receive 1% cash back in most spending categories. You receive 5% cash back on selected spending categories that change quarterly. And you can receive 5%-20% cash back when you use this card to shop at Discover’s online shopping mall. Additionally, you receive a bonus $50 cash back if you spend $599 on purchases in the first 3 months. Discover More $75 Cash Back offers you 0% APR on purchases for 6 months and 0% APR on balance transfers for 12 months. This is one of the best cash back credit cards for someone who is also seeking a good credit card balance transfer offer.
PenFed Premium Travel Rewards Amex
The PenFed Travel Rewards American Express card is a travel rewards card that was recently voted one of 2009’s best credit cards by CardRatings.com. This is due to the combination of great rewards and a low interest rate. With this credit card, you get 5 points per dollar on airfare purchases, 3 points per dollar on hotel and restaurant purchases and 1 point per dollar on other purchases. Points can be redeemed with no blackout dates or other restrictions. This card has a low ongoing APR of 13.24% for all transactions including cash advances; this is one of the lowest cash advance APR offers in the market. The card has an annual fee of $50 which is waived for the first year. In some cases, a one-time $20 membership to PenFed’s credit card union may be required.
Free Spirit Onyx World MasterCard
Free Spirit Onyx World MasterCard is a travel rewards card that offers numerous bonus travel rewards. With this card, you receive 3 miles for every $1 you spend on Spirit and 1 mile for every other $1 spent. You receive 15,000 bonus miles after your purchase which is enough to get as many as three free trips. You also earn 10,000 bonus miles for balance transfers made within the first month of the account. Balance transfers have a 0% APR for the first 6 billing cycles. There is a $69 annual fee for the Free Spirit Onyx World MasterCard but it is waived for the first year.
American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Card
American Express Gold Card is a travel rewards card. With this card you earn 1 point for every dollar that you spend. You earn 2x points when you shop with American Express Travel. And you earn 3x points when you shop at BonusPointsMall.com. Additionally, you can earn 10,000 bonus points if you spend $500 in the first three months. Points are redeemable for travel, shopping, dining and entertainment purchases. Additional perks on the American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Card include purchase protection and access to Gold Member Events. There is an annual fee of $125 but it is waived for the first year. Payment is due in full each month on this car; the perk to this is that you won’t be charged any interest.
Platinum Delta Sky Rewards Credit Card from American Express
The Platinum Delta Sky Rewards Credit Card from American Express is a travel rewards card that offers many different opportunities to earn bonus rewards. One mile is earned for every dollar spent. Bonus miles include 20,000 miles for your first purchase and 5,000 more bonus miles if you add 2 card members to your account. There are no blackout dates and you can start redeeming your rewards with as little as 10,000 miles. You can earn additional bonus points throughout the year. Plus each year you get one complimentary Platinum Companion Certificate to bring a friend along on a trip. There is an annual fee of $150. This card has a low ongoing APR of 13.24%.
Starwood Preferred Reward Guest Card from American Express
The Starwood Preferred Reward Guest Card from American Express is another great AMEX rewards card but this one is for people who really want the option to use their rewards points for accommodations. Earn one point for each dollar spent and double points for spending at Starwood hotels. Points can be redeemed for free nights at Starwood hotels or for flights with no blackout dates or travel restrictions. Get 10,000 bonus points after your first purchase and another 15000 bonus points if you spend $15,000 in the first six months. Those points alone would give you nearly a week of free hotel stays. If you spend $30,000 in the first year then you will be upgraded to a gold card and can earn bonus points even faster. The Starwood Preferred Reward Guest Card from American Express has an annual fee of $45 which is waived for the first year. This card has a low introductory rate of 2.9% for 6 months on purchases and balance transfers.
