The PenFed Premium Travel Rewards American Express card is a travel rewards card that was recently voted one of 2009’s best credit cards by CardRatings.com. This is due to the combination of great rewards and a low interest rate. With this credit card, you get 5 points per dollar on airfare purchases and 1 point per dollar on other purchases. Points can be redeemed with no blackout dates or other restrictions. This card has a low introductory APR of 9.99% for purchase and cash advances; this is one of the lowest cash advance APR offers in the market. The card has no annual fee. If you’re not in the military or otherwise eligible for membership in Pentagon Federal Credit Union, a one-time $15-$20 contribution to a PenFed-sponsored organization will get you in.
American Express Gold Card is a travel rewards card. With this card you earn 1 point for every dollar that you spend. Additionally, you can earn 10,000 bonus points if you spend $1,000 in the first three months. Points are redeemable for select gift cards valued at $100. There is an annual fee of $125. Additional perks on the American Express Premier Rewards Gold Card help you earn points faster. You can receive 3x points on airfare, 2x points on gas and groceries, and 1x point on everything else*. You can earn 25,000 bonus points if you spend $2,000 in the first three months. Points are redeemable for select gift cards valued at $250. Perks also include special travel packages and upgrades and access to Gold Card Events. There is an annual fee of $175 but it is waived for the first year. Payment is due in full each month on this card; the perk to this is that you won’t be charged any interest.
The Platinum Delta Sky Rewards Credit Card from American Express is a travel rewards card that offers many different opportunities to earn bonus rewards. One mile is earned for every dollar spent. Bonus miles include 20,000 miles for your first purchase and 5,000 more bonus miles if you add 2 card members to your account. There are no blackout dates and you can start redeeming your rewards with as little as 10,000 miles. There is an annual fee of $150. This card has a low ongoing APR of 15.24, 17.24 or 19.24%.
The Starwood Preferred Reward Guest Card from American Express is another great AMEX rewards card but this one is for people who really want the option to use their rewards points for accommodations. Earn one point for each dollar spent and up tp 5x Starpoints for spending at hotels and resorts participating in Starwood Preferred Guest Program. Redeem Starpoints for free nights at over 1,000 hotels and resorts in nearly 100 countries and for flights on more than 350 airlines, all with no blackout dates. Get 10,000 bonus points after your first purchase and another 15,000 bonus points when you spend $5,000 in the first six months. Those points add up to free hotel stays at participating Starwood hotels and resorts. The Starwood Preferred Reward Guest Card from American Express has an annual fee of $65 which is waived for the first year. This card has a low APR of 15.24, 17.24 or 19.24% on purchases.
