Here’s some info on the upcoming bonus categories for the Citi Dividend Platinum Select Visa credit card…
As you’re likely aware, many credit card companies have switched to a model where they offer a base level of rewards (typically 1%) plus bonus rewards (usually 5%) in certain categories. Citi is amongst those who now use this model and, unfortunately, you have to re-enroll each quarter.
The categories will switch on July 1, so it’s time to re-enroll. Here’s the deal:
Earn 5% Cash Back when you use your Citi Dividend Card from July 1, 2012 through September 30, 2012 on:
Airline and Car Rental purchases, and on back-to-school shopping at Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Gap Outlet and Banana Republic Factory Store once you enroll.
And here’s the fine print:
Airlines and car rentals are defined as follows: Airlines are defined as transactions from airlines or air carriers. Car Rentals are defined as transactions involving the short-term or long-term rentals of cars, trucks, or vans. Online, catalog, mail order and telephone purchases are not eligible to receive additional cash back unless the merchants identify the transactions as being made at Old Navy, Gap, Gap Outlet, Banana Republic and Banana Republic Factory Store and airline or car rental company. Travel agencies and travel deal website are not eligible to receive additional cash back.
Recall that there is no annual fee with this card, and that cash back is limited to $300/year unless you receive an offer that says something different.
Don’t forget the $100 bonus…
If you don’t already have the Citi Dividend Platinum Select Visa card, you can get a $100 cash bonus by applying for one, getting approved, and spending $500 within the first three months, and there’s no annual fee.
We’ve had this card for years and have never had any problems getting Citi to hold up their end of the bargain. You just login, request the check, and it shows up in your mailbox within a week or so.
