Insane Star Wars Auction Results

Sometimes I just don’t get it… The lightsaber used by Mark Hamill in the original Star Wars has reportedly sold at auction for just over $200k and the saber used by Darth Vader fetched $118k. Other items of note: Luke’s X-Wing flight suit ($70k), the original stormtrooper laser blaster ($56k), a Chewbacca face mask ($50k), and Yoda’s cane ($50k). Some people just have way too much money.

Star Wars collectors are just plain crazy. I became an expert on Japanese Star Wars Cards (although I’ve never seen all the movies) because of the prices collectors were willing to pay for them. Crazy…

  2. Wow! I bet you could make a pretty penny from that if you fond the right buyer. Have you ever searched eBay for a kite like that to see if anyone has sold one and how much they got for it? If you do so, be sure to check the completed auctions, as well. I’d be curious to hear what sort of market value it might have.

I’ve got an mint-condition, unopened Star Wars kite from 1977. I got it by sending in a few cereal box tops. The kite wasn’t a prop in the movie, of course, but looking at the auction prices above, maybe I should consider the kite as part of my retirement portfolio. ;->
