Quicken 2009 Discounts for the New Year

If you’re a Quicken user and are looking to upgrade, then I have good news for you… Intuit is currently offering a $20-$50 discount on some of their most popular products. Here’s the deal:

Note that these discounts replace the percent-off discounts that Intuit previously offered. In most cases, however, the new pricing is at least as good as the previous promotional pricing. These discounts are good through May 31st, 2009 at which time all products will return to their regular price.

I’ve been using Quicken since the DOS days – use to love it, now I tolerate it. Its still the best value in personal finance sw out there, but its the small things that have started to irritate me. Like the constant embedded ads – never seen that in purchased sw before. And the 2 year support cycle – that is incredibly short. And now the latest discount offer – “$20 off and free shipping” – but if you want the CD-ROM they charge shipping! The shipping is only free for the download option, where there is no shipping! I’ve already switched from Intuit TurboTax to H&R TaxCut because I got tired of the Intuit mail-in rebate scam. Now I find myself looking for an alternative to Quicken as well. The sw is good but I hate being jerked around and deceived by excessive marketing and sales deceptions.
