Tax Preparation Poll Results

The tax preparation poll results are in. The question of the week was “How do you do your taxes?” and it looks like the winner is tax prep software, with 40% of all respondents using TurboTax, TaxCut, and the like. Online tax prep came in a distant second at 25%, followed by independent tax pros (20%) and the old-fashioned pencil and paper approach (10%). Perhaps the most surprising thing to me was the paucity of people that used ‘discount’ tax preparers such as H&R Block (2%). Click here for the full results.

Be sure to check back next week for the next poll in the series. And if you have any ideas for poll questions that you’d like to see, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

I guess the sample of people reading blogs are do-it-yourselfers…the majority of people who go to H&R block may not be surfers or that invested in looking into personal finance/looking for tips etc.
