This is just a quick note to let you know that voters can get a free coffee at Starbucks, a free donut at Krispy Kreme, a free scoop of ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s, and possibly a free chicken sandwich at Chick-fil-A (though it could be too late for this – lunchtime only?).
Sadly, the state of Georgia has outlawed such tomfoolery:
“Any person who gives or receives, or offers to give or receive, or participates in the giving or receiving of money or gifts for the purpose of registering as a voter, voting, or voting for a particular candidate in any primary or election shall be guilty of a felony.â€
In light of such laws, Starbucks has extended the offer to all customers. I’ve heard that you still have to wear your “I Voted” sticker for the others, though, so you might actually be guilty of felonious donut eating in some locations if you take part. Yikes.
